Press release from the Stoughton Public Schools: February 21, 2021 Dear SPS Community- "Welcome back to the last week of February! A few updates for this week. This is a Cohort A Wednesday week. Travel guidance. A reminder that students who traveled outside of Massachusetts need to quarantine for 10 days or present a negative PCR or antigen test prior to returning. Phase Two. We are preparing for Phase Two of In-Person learning now and we will have more information and details to come soon. Phase Two merges cohorts, moves to 5-day in-person, and maintains a full virtual option. In preparation for Phase Two we are rolling out: COVID-19 Pooled Testing program. The nursing team will be testing students and staff each Wednesday beginning this week for those who have already signed up. If you have not signed up yet but would like your student to participate, you may opt in to start next week, March 3rd, using this FORM. New attendance notification procedure. Remote learning remains an option for in-person learners on their scheduled in-person days only if the student is sick or quarantining. Parents/guardians should continue to call or email the nurse or the office in the event an in-person student needs to attend remotely. Beginning March 1st, absences without a phone call/email will be marked as unexcused. Also, to ensure safety, in-person learners who are not in school on their cohort days may not participate in in-person activities after school. Surveying families. To get an accurate count of in-person and virtual learners for Phase Two, we will be sending out a survey later this week asking for your choice for either full in-person or full remote learning for your students. Following the results of that survey and our regular review of health metrics, a date will be shared with the community on the start of Phase Two. There are many new things beginning this week in classrooms, on the field/court, and online throughout SPS. Keep an eye out for news and updates. Have a great week everyone!'
