MEDFORD, MA — Two parks and open space projects were recently completed in Medford, while nine are currently in the works, city leaders said at a public meeting Feb. 17. Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn, the Office of Community Development, Recreation Department and Parks Division provided updates on 18 projects, including seven that are upcoming. Close to 60 residents attended the virtual meeting, and officials collected more than 150 comments. Here is the latest on the city's parks projects: Recently Completed Harris Park renovationRecreation Center at 30 Forest St. Ongoing Condon Shell: Recent repairs have included repainting the hatch shell, and roof repairs. Later this year a new mural will be painted, thanks to a partnership with CACH. Landscaping is also currently being reviewed.Tufts Pool: Upcoming renovations will include accessibility improvements (bathroom, accessible pool stairs, accessible picnic tables, automatic doors), bathhouse improvements, pool deck replacement, new wading pool features, and installation of LED lighting.Wright's Pond: Upcoming improvements include accessible picnic tables, and walkway repairs.Dugger Park Tennis Courts: Through CPA funding, the 5 courts will be reconstructed, and Pickle Ball lines will be added.Playstead Park Basketball Courts: Through CPA funding, courts will be regraded and repaved, and hoops will be replaced.Tufts Park: Through CPA funding, the playground will be converted from sand to accessible surfacing, and a sandbox added.Capen Park: Through CPA funding, the playground will be converted from sand to accessible surfacing, and a sandbox added.Cummings Park: Through CPA funding, the playground will be converted from sand to accessible surfacing, and a sandbox added.Clippership Connector: DCR plans to construct this shared use path during 2022.
