Description
BOULDER, CO — Prescribed burning is set to begin Wednesday around Teller Lake in Boulder County, officials said Monday.
The burning will occur near 95th Street and Valmont Road until March 25, Boulder fire and parks officials said.
Fire crews will burn cattails to improve the flow of irrigation water to agricultural fields, the city said.
Cattails also reduce breeding habitat for northern leopard frogs, a species that's at risk, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said.
Ignitions are expected to begin after 9 a.m. and end before 3 p.m. The burns will only occur if weather conditions are safe for controlled fires, fire officials said.
