Marin County Could Move To Red Tier Tuesday: Report

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin is among three Bay Area counties on the brink of having some restrictions lifted on businesses amid a decline in coronavirus cases, KRON 4 reports. San Mateo and San Francisco are the others that could move from the most restrictive purple tier to the red tier in the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy according to the report. The lifting of restrictions would allow indoor dining and gyms to reopen at limited capacity.The announcement could occur as soon as noon on Tuesday according to the report. Under the red tier indoor retail stores would be allowed to open at 50 percent capacity, museums and zoos could open at 25 percent capacity, gyms could open at 10 percent capacity and indoor dining and movie theaters at 25 percent capacity. Marin County along with most of the state on Dec. 3 saw restrictions tighten Dec. 3 when Gov. Gavin Newsom issued shelter-in-place orders for most of the state amid surging case numbers and diminishing ICU bed availability. Marin County joined most of the Bay Area in moving into the purple tier Jan. 25 as case projections fell. Such projections have held, putting the county on the brink of loosening restrictions on businesses. Read more at KRON 4
