Beaver County Mother Charged With Killing Two Daughters

AMBRIDGE, PA — A Beaver County woman has been charged with shooting two of her daughters to death. Krisanda Bright, 48, was arrested following the shootings that occurred Monday in the 900 block of Maplewood Avenue. The victims were identified as Jasmine Cannady, 22, and Kiara Bright, 16. Police have not said what prompted the shootings. Krisanda Bright is being held without bond in the Beaver County Jail. According to the criminal complaint, Bright told police she shot Cannady as she was in bed in an upstairs bedroom. Bright then went downstairs and pointed the gun at the Kiara Bright, the criminal complaint stated. Kiara said "Please don't shoot, I'm gonna call the police." According to police, Bright then shot her in the face. When she continued to move despite the wound, Kisanra Bright said she shot her in the head because she didn't want her to suffer, according to the criminal complaint. Kiara Bright was a student at Ambridge High School. The Ambridge School District posted the following message on its website: "Dear Parent or Guardians: It is with deep regret that we inform you about a recent loss to our school community. On Monday, February 22, 2021, a student at Ambridge High School, passed away. This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students. "The Ambridge Area School District has a Crisis Intervention Team made up of professionals trained to help with the needs of students, parents, and school personnel at difficult times such as this. The District has counselors available for any student who may need or want help or any type of assistance surrounding this loss. We encourage you, as parents, to also feel free to use our resources.
