LA GRANGE, IL — A man was pronounced dead after being struck by a train on the railroad tracks in La Grange shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.
The man was identified as John Jacobs, 52, of La Grange, by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The accident happened in the area of Kensington and Burlington avenues.
Police described the male victim as unresponsive when they arrived. La Grange police said they are working with the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office to investigate the incident.
The incident resulted in the suspension of Metra service for a time, police said. Metra warned of delays.
