Botanist/Seed Collection Labor Job (Petrified Forest National Park) compensation: DOE employment type: part-time Petrified Forest National Park Position: Crew member (native seed collection) Dates: 4 -40 Hour Seed Collection Hitches in May July September and November 2021 Status: Temporary Part Time, Salary: Hourly rate DOE/hr plus food Perdiem (campsites provided) Fred Phillips Consulting (FPC) is looking for 1 botanist/seed collection crew member for four, one week long work hitches in Petrified Forest National Park. Crew will work 40 hours per week for four one week periods during the 2021 seed collection season. FPC specializes in awarding winning design including ecological restoration, parks, trails, wetland delineation and environmental monitoring and compliance. Candidates for this position will be working to collect native grass and forb seed to be used for habitat restoration. This position will include (but not be limited to) the following duties: 1. Identification of non native/native plants 2. Collection of native plant seeds in PFNP; 2. Primitive camping in PFNP Successful candidates must be able to work and camp in remote locations in challenging conditions, and work as part of a team. Experience with botany, ecological restoration, native seed collection and working in remote wilderness areas preferred. If weather occurs that delays work days, the crew will adjust schedule. FPC will provide a weekly food allowance and will pay for camping fees during the work hitches; Crew members expected to provide their own transportation to GTNP. FPC will provide transportation to collection sites during the work week within the Park. Candidates will be required to camp at remote locations during field work due to the location of the project. Water and toilet facilities will be available, but camping will be primitive. Crew Members will need to provide their own camping gear to use during the week.
