CHICAGO — Traveling to and from 18 states will no longer require mandatory coronavirus testing or quarantine under the city's emergency travel order, public health officials said Tuesday. Starting Friday, traveling to Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin will be classified as so-called "yellow tier" states that have no more than 15 daily coronavirus cases per 100,000 residents. Thirty-one states are now in the "orange tier" — meaning having a case rate of more than 15 new cases per 100,000 residents — which requires travelers to either quarantine for 10 days or have a negative coronavirus test no more than 72 hours before arrival in Chicago. The travel restrictions for people traveling to orange-tier states do not apply to people who don't have coronavirus symptoms and have been fully vaccinated for at least two weeks, officials said More information is available online.
