Description

This is Luna. She was adopted into our home 4 years ago. Spayed spaniel blend is what we were told at the shelter. She sure has the sweetness of a spaniel and a short tail. Though we did some research and believe she could be mixed with an extremely rare breed (in the U.S.) a Swedish Laphund. She is a loyal, sweet companion and especially bonded with my husband. She is alpha to our small, poodle mix male, neutered dog. She is patient and enjoys pleasing and being praised. She does great with small children but we prefer a home with older children as she gets anxious when toddlers run around. She is a house dog. Potty trained, kennel trained, knows commands, is not interested in fetching to save her life, but will tug of war for a gentle few; and has a high prey drive that changes in seconds if she sees or smells a critter or birds. She goes from sweet slow dog to condition black you have to clap and use a stern voice to snap her back to commands. We believe she was a guard dog to livestock as she has that watchful nature. She does not do well at dog parks. She herds dogs that are running around minding their business. Perhaps a hunting companion? She does well with visitors and dog visitors. She will alert if someone is at door and will hush when told. She watches our daughter when she’s playing and our backs when we go camping. She will literally be back to back with us and get off the clock once we go into the tent for the night. Walks well on a harness for strolls and collar for short walks. We are able to have her be off leash when there are no other dogs running around at park. But again, she just doesn’t really know how to play at a public park, anxiety strikes her and she has the need to herd. She is house trained and occasionally wrestles with our small poodle mix for a few minutes. She is very tolerant and puts him in his place when she’s had enough. Our neighbors are interested in her, as she has a calm and sweet temperament and they are aware of the prey drive. We just think she needs to retire or go back to work because that prey drive and anxiety is increasing. We have a yard and go on daily walks and potty breaks but believe things need to change for her for the better. We think some open and secured land would make her a happier and less anxious dog again. We have vet records, food and her beloved toys and bully sticks. She sleeps in a kennel and off the bed at the end of our bed but will looooveeeee if you let her get on the bed with you. She also knows not to beg and leave the area when we are dining. She is a seasoned traveler and does great for road trips and shopping malls btw. Belly rubs and ear fluffs. She is a damn near perfect and it hurts us to rehome her. Personal questions will be asked as we interview new humans. Please do not contact us for a trade or breeding inquiries. She is spayed and we are very aware of the animal abusers in El Paso and aren’t giving her up without questions. 619-seven-seven-17631.
