Description
Power Systems Plus, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform generator maintenance and repairs on residential and commercial generator systems. Technicians must have formal training in generator repair (not required) and be responsible for working independently. Technicians must be able to read and understand wiring schematics, generators, controls, and associated equipment. Position requires work in either shop or the field as necessary to support customer needs. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: • Technical training from a trade school in power generation or diesel mechanics • Minimum of Two years on the job experience instead of school • Ability to read drawings and schematics. • Good understanding of basic electrical components and processes • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical failures. • Have your own tools. • Comfortable around AC/DC Voltage REQUIRED • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record to operate a company-provided vehicle. •Must be able to read, write and speak English. Bilingual a plus. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: • Perform preventative maintenance, changing engine oil, testing the system, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate equipment records. • Have the ability to diagnose and repair engine and generator problems. • Service and repair common control and electrical-related issues. • Have a working knowledge of automatic transfer switches and applications. • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system. • Test and maintain electrical motors and generators. • Test and maintain large DC battery banks and chargers, large inverters, and variable frequency drives. • Assist in maintenance scheduling of related work. • Assist as needed in repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment and support shop operations. • Perform emergency and overtime maintenance as required. • Responsible for preparing material and tool orders, filing warranty paperwork, and providing excellent customer service to our clients. • Assist in creating estimates for time and parts for repairs; perform the repairs and complete, precise reports for invoicing and restocking purposes.
