Essential Job Responsibilities: Set up paver for operation to maintain a smooth, consistent and correctly aligned lay down of asphalt Must have General knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems of the paver and be able to perform light mechanical adjustments and to assist with mechanic repairs on assigned equipment Visual safety inspection for leaks and damage to machine before operation Responsible for notifying supervisor if equipment needs to be repaired Will check all fluid levels at the beginning of engine startup for the day and monitor gauges, fluid levels, operation and function through the entire daily operation and clean the paver and the end of the day Understand, meet and plan grade cross slope requirements Ability to operate equipment holding a straight line Ability to guide and direct dump trucks while backing up to machine hopper when operating paver Must be able to work in a team environment safely and successfully Follow safe practices and procedures Other duties as assigned Job Requirements: Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating asphalt paver on public road/highway projects. High school diploma or equivalent preferred Able to complete all required paperwork efficiently Must be able meet company MVR requirements and have a valid Florida driver’s license Employer conducts drug screening and background check Work Environment: Must be able to work flexible schedule which includes days, nights, and weekends as needed. Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, spray paint, gasoline, diesel fuel and asphalt products.
