Performs typical duties in operating machinery (trencher, ditch witch, skid steer, mini excavator, fork lift, sweeper, billy goat vacuum), including but not limited to proper operation, maintenance and safety checks associated with the specific machine. 2. Works with machinery to excavate, trench and otherwise move dirt. 3. Operates heavy equipment in safe and effective manner wearing proper protective equipment at all times while working. 4. Coordinates excavation efforts with other drivers and/or operators. 5. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor. 6. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations and preventative maintenance on machines as required. 7. Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above. 8. Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up. 9. Navigates from site to site and communicates effectively with builders. 10. Install and remove silt fence and install protection to storm inlets. 11. Work with heavy duty hand tools (sledge hammer/shovels, etc.) 12. Install various types of erosion control measures (BMPs) as prescribed by reporting agencies. 13. Present a professional, positive, and helpful attitude at all times while interacting with customers and co-workers. 14. Work to make sure client sites are clean and presentable after installing BMPs. 15. Other duties as assigned. Requirements High School Diploma required (college degree preferred) Must have a valid Drivers License Shows ability to lead a team/crew efficiently Able to illustrate organization, leadership, and communication skills Comfortable and capable using technology Able to bring examples of work ethic and past success Must be able to physically work outdoors in all types of weather Strong attention to detail Must be able to walk up and down inclines and on uneven land/ground Must be able to work weekends and extended hours as needed PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
