A large apartment community in Des Moines, Iowa has an immediate opening for a full-time Maintenance Technician to join our enthusiastic team. A top candidate for this position will exude top notch customer service, must be self-motivated, organized, and reliable. The primary function of the Maintenance Technician is to assist the other maintenance personnel in completing all work required in running a top-performing apartment community. In addition to being comfortable working both independently, and as a team, qualified candidates must be self-motivated, flexible, & reliable. The primary function of this position is to proactively contribute & assist in completing a wide-variety of maintenance tasks & repairs in order to successfully maintain and enhance our residential community. Duties for this position will include, but are not limited to: • Maintain a professional & courteous attitude with residents, co-workers, vendors, and others at all times. • Respond to resident requests & work orders in a timely manner. • Assist in preparing all vacant apartments to market ready condition as needed. • Overall maintenance of the community and grounds area to ensure curb appeal remains at consistently high level. • Perform preventative maintenance and other maintenance tasks as assigned, including, but not limited to: light bulb changes, filter changes, lock repairs, install/repair window coverings, HVAC repairs, appliance repairs, caulking, painting, pool maintenance, test pool chemical levels where applicable, and vinyl repair and installation. • Regularly report & communicate any maintenance concerns found on property to Property Manager and/or Maintenance Lead (taking action when needed under their guidance & direction). • Responsible for clearing snow at property in collaboration & coordination with other maintenance personnel. • Other maintenance duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills: • Basic knowledge of building maintenance principles including standard practices and methods of electrical power usage, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, and HVAC. • Knowledge of tools and equipment used in building maintenance such as but not limited to electric drill & saws, volt and gas meters, key machine, power drain cleaner (snake), ladders etc. • Ability to read and follow directions for tools, assembly of furniture or other directions needed to complete assigned tasks. Requirements: This position requires participation in an on-call schedule on rotating basis with other maintenance personnel (expected to respond to emergency calls, including on evenings, weekends, and holidays; must have reliable transportation).
