Seeking full-time (40 hours/week with possible paid overtime) crematory operator for an established, high volume crematory in Bridgeport, CT. Hours are 7:30-3:30 Monday through Friday and candidate must be available to work Saturday morning/afternoon on 3-4 days’ notice when needed. The crematory operator must be able to cremate human remains and process ashes for the return to families. The best candidate for this job will meet the following requirements: - Must be reliable. The crematory operator has the sole responsibility of opening the crematory and maintaining the hours of operation. The operator will be expected to be on time to work every day, as well as be able to work the entire day. - Must be able to maintain a written record of work. The State of Connecticut expects every crematory to have a record of every cremation ready to be inspected at any given time. The inspector makes sporadic visits and any records they ask for must be produced immediately. - Must work well with others. The crematory operator is in constant contact with funeral directors and their staff, as well as other employees of the cemetery. Our customers expect to have a good working relationship with the operator. The operator and office staff must be in constant contact to ensure the smooth operation of the crematory. - Must have attention to detail. The crematory operator is part of an industry that does not have room for mistakes or carelessness. It is imperative that every precaution is taken to avoid the mishandling or mislabeling of remains. Once hired, the candidate will undergo a training period under the current crematory operator and will also become certified by the State of Connecticut.
