Introduction into Lean Innovation Discovery thru Customer Validation & Iterative Prototyping Do you have an idea for a new product, but are unsure how to start? Are you interested in rapid innovation, but not sure how to tell if your ideas have value? Every new product, process, or idea starts with a problem and requires a ‘customer.’ This basic course will introduce the tools of lean/agile innovation discovery. About the Course: Customer interviewing – Learn how to engage potential customers and extract critical insights about their purchasing habits. Customer journey mapping (decision-making) – Learn how to use this data to clearly understand the customers’ experience and the moments they make decisions.Problem definition – Learn how to frame moments of pain or ‘problems’ in order to generate viable solutions. Prototype development – Learn how combine iterative design and customer validation to create a viable pretotype. This 4-week class meets weekly on Thursdays at 4PM – 6PM (CST) March 18, 2021 March 25, 2021April 1, 2021April 8, 2021Join us and learn how to identify a problem, create a solution, validate it with potential customers, design based on feedback, and produce a truly customer driven solution. Connect with like-minded individuals and tackle Evansville centric problems together. This course is not an incubator or accelerator. This course meets for a total of 8 hours over 4 weeks. It is intended to introduce tools and methods, not provide guidance on individual business or product ideas. About the Instructors: Dr. Art Chlebowski – Asst. Professor of Engineering at the University of Southern Indiana. A biomedical engineer with an emphasis in embedded systems design. Dr. Chlebowski’s focus is on design, development and fabrication of prototyping systems in fields of wearables to wastewater treatment. Dr. Chlebowski further integrates iterative design processes and applications into his courses as well as community outreach. Josh McWilliams - Instructor of Computer Information Systems at University of Southern Indiana. Experienced in IT General Controls Assessments, IT Strategy, PHP, Event Management, Windows Server, Unix and Windows based Operating Systems, Data Storage and Manipulation, Facilitation Techniques, Innovation Development Practices, and Student Instruction, Josh has a passion for supporting small business development, a knack for instructional design, and an interest in regional development. Our Location: MAKE IT Evansville is located at the lower level of Innovation Pointe, 318 Main Street. Street parking is available on the street. Parking: Downtown Evansville features ample parking, including more than 1,500 spaces in City owned parking garages on Locust St., Third St. and Sycamore Street. Walking distance is approximately 1.5 blocks from each garage to MAKE IT Evansville. Street parking (2HR) is monitored Monday-Friday (8-5 PM). Parking citations are not issued by the City on weekends, however EPD does have the discretion to ticket. COVID19 Updates: All participants are required to wear a mask for the duration of the course. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes are available for cleaning work area. Courses are restricted to 12 participants (to maintain 6-foot distance). Please do not enter the facility if you feel ill or believe you have been exposed. All are welcome! 👥 *Participants 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Photos may be taken of the class in session for promotional purposes on the MAKE IT Evansville websites and related media.
