Danvers To Host Final Coronavirus Testing Date Before Hiatus

DANVERS, MA — After one more free, drive-thru coronavirus testing clinic at Danvers High School on Wednesday the town said it will be taking a "hiatus" from testing to focus on supporting the state's vaccination efforts. The final testing date of the month will run from 3 to 6 p.m. for town residents at the high school. The town said residents should consider the free, ongoing "Stop the Spread" sites in Salem at Salem High School (drive-thru) and Old Town Hall (walk-up). Any residents who are having trouble accessing testing can contact Danvers Town Hall at [email protected]. "We want to thank the Danvers residents for participating in our testing site (and your patience when the lines got long)," the town said. "Also, a big thanks to Cataldo for partnering and working so hard to help our community. Finally, we would like to thank our town employees who organized, worked, and made sure we had one of the best testing sites around." Gov. Charlie Baker said last week that the state will focus its vaccination strategy around mass vaccination sites, like the Danvers DoubleTree Hotel, but that local Boards of Health are asked to use their allotments on hard-to-reach and vulnerable populations such as homebound residents, seniors without transportation and the vaccine-hesitant.
