PARAMUS, NJ — Monday and Tuesday coronavirus vaccine appointments at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center have been canceled due to national shipping delays, County Executive Jim Tedesco said.
A new date for those with appointments has yet to be announced.
This isn't the first series of cancellations related to shipping delays at the facility, as Thursday appointments were canceled last week.
"As a result of severe winter storms in the South and Midwest, Bergen County has been notified by the New Jersey Department of Health of delayed weekly vaccine shipments," said Tedesco last week.
Gov. Phil Murphy confirmed that last week's vaccine-dose delivery did not make it to New Jersey on time because planes at major hubs for both FedEx and UPS have been grounded due to the weather. Read more: COVID-19 Vaccine Shipment To NJ Delayed, Gov. Murphy Confirms
Some sites were said to be able to maintain appointments for a while, but officials acknowledged that others, like at New Bridge, would have to cancel outright.
"Not all sites have the inventory on-hand to be able to satisfy current appointments, and this will result in many appointments needing to be rescheduled," he said.
