CENTRAL COAST, CA — Central Coast voters have decided that incumbent U.S. Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) should continue to represent California's 20th Congressional District.
The Associated Press called the race in his favor Wednesday morning.
Panetta fended off a challenge from small business owner and Republican Jeff Gorman.

Panetta held a significant lead over Gorman as votes trickled in. Here's the latest count:
The district includes the city of Santa Cruz and the rest of the southern portion of Santa Cruz County. Monterey County and portions of San Benito County are also included in the district.
Panetta and Gorman were the top vote-getters in the March primary. Panetta led with 66 percent of the vote, while Nohrden garnered 20 percent and Democrat Adam Bolaños Scow received 14 percent.
