MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Students attending school in the Manhattan Beach Unified School District grades 3-5 will be able to return to on-campus learning starting March 1, according to the school district board meeting agenda. The board meets this Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. In addition to discussion on reopening campuses for grades 3-5, the board will also discuss adding up to seven sections of high need hybrid in-person learning [four at Mira Costa High School and 3 at Manhattan Beach Middle School]. The board will also have the option to add more in the future, according to the online agenda. MBUSD staff is also recommending that the board vote to determine the next steps for starting 6th grade humanities, with one cohort attending for three hours a day, two days a week, for three weeks, then the next cohort doing the same. The meeting will also include staff updates on: Implementation of new Operational Safety ProtocolsDistance Learning UpdatesProfessional Development on effective distance learning strategiesProgress of athletic trainings as allowed by the state's protocols for youth sportsDevelopments in the MBUSD High Needs Hybrid, including new support classes offered at MBMS and MCHSUpdates from the TK-2 Hybrid ProgramUpdates from the State and Los Angeles CountyFiltration systems in classroomsOptions for 6th grade, including Humanities.
