Starting a Band or Duo or Whatever

Description

Hello, my name is Zoe. I wanna start a possibly Progressive/Experimental/Alternative/Atmospheric/Rock/Shoegaze (ish) band. Not that any of that is law. That's just like the general feeling I'm going for. A mix of a lot of different genres. We don't have to stick to any particular genre. I like bouncing around from style to style album by album. I hope to find some bandmates that seek to be ultimately creative and outside of the box with music, even if it ends up not being the most financially valuable. (Some thing may work and some things may not. But why not try anyway?) I want to create art. The fame and money side of things is secondary. (Obviously, I want to make it somewhere, but I refuse to do so at the expense of musical freedom.) I've mostly played myself in the past, but more and more I feel like my skills are limited by not teaming up. My musical personality comes out best when I play with others. I play: Violin (I've played Violin for the longest and it's the only instrument I've had formal training for.) Piano/Keyboard. (Self-taught, but I can play quite a bit. I mostly use organ presets and things.) Guitar (I dabble, but I'm not prepared to be lead) I sing (This is where I think I'll be best) I also have a variety of odd or misc instruments that we can mess with. Other skills/facts: I have quite a bit of experience with mixing. I'm not the best, but I've mixed all of my own work. I have a lot of experimental equipment. (Tape equipment/test equipment/etc.) I'm 22 and I'm a Trans Woman. (So, if that's a deal breaker, sorry. I just want to be upfront about that.) Musical influences: Steven Wilson / Porcupine Tree Radiohead (!!!) The Cure The Smashing Pumpkins Muse Cardiacs Pink Floyd Jethro Tull Rush Yes King Crimson Gentle Giant Green Day Alcest Agalloch My Bloody Valentine Felt Lily Chou-Chou Myrkur No Joy +Many more but you get the picture Lemme know if you think you'd fit in. Any instruments are accepted. I do really need a drummer, though. Bonus points if you play odd/unusual instruments or use odd/unusual equipment. I don't really have the space to have rehearsal here, but we can always see if we can rent out a rehearsal area somewhere. That's the spiel. Let's make music.
