Description

Field Service Technician • Operates company vehicle in accordance with established safety procedures. • Transports products to and from specified, local destinations within a designated time frame. • Performs intermediate to advanced customer support activities involving the service, installation, modification and repair of equipment and systems. • Under specific direction, follows established policies and procedures in conducting on-site installation and testing of equipment to ensure proper working order. Requirements: • Valid driver’s license. • Has or is able to obtain a DOT physical card. • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance. • Ability to read maps. • Excellent communication skills. • High School diploma or GED. • Ability to work effectively with customers with limited supervision. • Two-year technical degree and/or previous technical experience preferred. Essential Functions: • Primarily responds to calls for service on any household water treatment products rented from the dealership or owned by the customer, as scheduled by the office. Analyzes equipment and makes repairs, as necessary. • Tests treated water to determine performance of equipment. Ensures that equipment is repaired and in working order. • Isolates equipment start-up malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action(s). • Installs water conditioning products (softeners and R.O units) sold or rented by the dealership in non-problem water areas. • Adjusts equipment settings to meet water conditioning requirements. • Completes paperwork for repairs and installations in a legible and timely manner in accordance with established procedures. Completes repair and installation paperwork properly at the job site. Returns the completed paperwork to the office in a timely fashion in accordance with established procedure. • May be required to substitute for route drivers in delivery of salt, tanks and chemicals. • Responsible for customer keys associated with scheduled work orders. Must return keys to manager upon completion of work. • Performs daily truck inspection and keeps vehicle clean, organized and appropriately stocked with parts. • Communicates in a positive manner with customers and maintains positive public relations for the company. • Abides by all company policies as contained in the Employee and Safety Handbooks. Physical Requirements: • Job requires occasional lifting and carrying, or otherwise transporting objects weighing 50-200 pounds. A significant amount of time is typically spent walking, standing and climbing stairs. • Body movements typically used: bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, reaching above the shoulder, crawling, crouching, balancing, pushing and pulling. • Hand movements typically used: twisting, turning, pulling, pushing, tapping, hitting and squeezing. • Speech/hearing: ability to express/exchange ideas and otherwise communicate with customers. Perceiving nature of sounds by ear to ensure safety. • Sight: ability to perceive objects by the eye. Vision must be correctable to 20/40 with three-dimensional vision. • Required to meet all physical requirements in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as prescribed by the U.S. Department of Transportation. • Subject to outside environmental conditions. • Works in environments which may contain water, salt brine and/or water treatment chemicals with use of protective equipment as required. • Must wear safety equipment as required.
