Description
The Carpenter Helper will help on jobsites by performing duties of lesser skill. The Carpenter Helper performs physical activities that require considerable use of their arms and legs and moving their whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
Duties:
- Moves furniture, equipment, possessions in order to prep jobsites
- Positions and holds lumber, drywall, etc. in place for fastening or cutting
- Selects tools, equipment, and materials from storage and transports items to jobsite
- Cleans work areas, tools, and equipment, to maintain a clean and safe jobsite
- Holds plumb bobs, levels, or other equipment to aid in establishing reference points and lines
- Aligns, straightens, plumbs, and squares forms for installations
- Smooth’s and sands surfaces to remove ridges, tool marks, glue, or caulking
- Measure, mark, drill or cut materials as needed
Skills:
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses
- Uses mathematics to solve problems that are job related
- Manages one’s own time and the time of others
- Willing to learn and grow in order to increase skills
