COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is designed for arcade enthusiasts with extreme passion and drive to design, build and bring to life the art of arcade nostalgia. Experiences in wood-working, computer graphic design and/or construction are not required. It is intended to educate, refine and/or develop the skills needed to transform digitally designed arcade art into full physical machine build. Emphasis, demonstration of design and build methodologies, including required materials, electronics, LED lighting, digital art graphic prints, wood-working, wiring, supply resources, etc. are core course essentials. No prerequisites or experiences required. OBJECTIVES - As a result of this course, you will be able to: Learn how to use CorelDRAW software to custom design and export digital art for production Locate, research and secure resources/supplies for the machine build Familiarity of computers and parts; how to differentiate a PC vs a Raspberry Pi build Frontend software programming for games, joysticks and buttons Use of necessary tools and acquire ability to build an arcade machine from scratch COURSE OUTLINE During the 3 day course, you will start familiarizing with software tools and applications to design, trace, convert, manipulate digital graphics, layout and export files for a CNC router and/or applications. In addition, you will be introduced to specific parts and supplies, locating, material quality verification and price comparison necessary for full machine build. Furthermore, you will learn how to program frontend software to control joysticks, buttons and retro games; use of hand router to perform slot cutting and application of T-Molding, wood glue application, fasteners, digital art prints and application, wiring, frontend software programming and full machine assembly.
