Avenidas Cremation & Burial 1376 W. St. Mary's rd. Tucson, AZ Brandon Walls - Manager/owner Miguel Legaspi - Owner Funeral Attendant/Assistant Job Summary I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH. MUST BE DEPENDABLE AND SERIOUS! NO PART TIMMERS. Need to be trusted, VERY INDEPENDENT! Can be a very fast paced environment, or not. Responsible for assisting in arranging funeral preparations and burials and cremation. Human remains removal (pick up decedents from Hospital, Home or Medical Examiner) Transport, cleaning, organizing, assistant to the manager. Not all will apply. Most is learn as you go and can be picked up over time if needed. 40+ hours a week or as needed. Salary or hourly. (prefer salary) Wage - Hourly, depending on initiative, priorities, professionalism, appearance and desire to learn the job. Will be using company vehicles so drug test “may” be required. VERY Casual, no suites all the time if any. No levies, T shirts. Bilingual is a BIG plus but not a requirement. Very small business, owners are very flexible, we ask that you be as well. Tedious paperwork. Must be spot on and accurate every time. Tardiness will not be tolerated AT ALL! You will be working around and with the deceased. The job is at a "MORTUARY". You handle Dead Bodies all the time. Primary responsibilities (some, maybe all) • Answer phone professionally and quickly at all times • Be sympathetic/empathetic with all. EVERY TIME! • NEVER argue with family members. No clowning but very tight crew. • Always ask questions. • Never assume if you don’t know. • Be able to move 200+ pounds if need be. • Fill out paperwork meticulously and extremely accurate every time. • Arrange for body to be moved to funeral home day and night (on call). • Transport deceased to the funeral home from Hospice, Hospital, Residence or county morgue. • Transport bodies to be cremated to Phoenix two to three times a week. • Possibly interact with families on a very personal level. • Ensure information gathered for birth certificate is correct. • Possibly meet with family of deceased to discuss funeral service details and preparation. • Comfort grieving family members. • Possibly discuss financing options. • Discuss present prices and plans when asked. • Help family set date and time for viewing and burial. • Arrange for clergy member to conduct religious services. • Choose pallbearers and arrange to have them at the funeral. • Contact cemetery officials and arrange burial plans. • Ensure burial plot is dug up and ready for casket. • Ensure religious and ethnic customs of the decedent are fulfilled or respected. • Dressing, casketing cosmetics of the deceased. • Arrange casket in viewing parlor or set up urn with ashes for viewing. • Set up photos or other memories of the decedent. • Greet family as they enter the funeral home. • Oversee preparation and shipment of body if burial is in another location. • Direct funeral visitations and services. • Clean, order, answer to the manager/owner and funeral director. • Handle small tasks and repetitious assignments at times. • Work well with others and represent our facility with the highest of standards. • Many, Many other tasks………..
