Women Getting Coronavirus More Often Than Men In North Shore

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — North Shore Health Department officials say they're seeing between 3 and 7 new COVID-19 cases per day, and are seeing women infected more frequently than men across North Shore communities. According to the North Shore Health Department, of the 939 cumulative COVID-19 cases in the North Shore, 490 of them, or 54 percent, belong to women. Men make up 46 percent of all cases. Among those new cases is a continuing new COVID-19 case trend for people in their 20s. The age group with the most positive COVID-19 cases in the North Shore is between 20-29 years old, health officials reported this week. This age group represents 23 percent of all cases. According to the North Shore Health Department, North Shore communities have reported 939 cumulative COVID-19 cases as of Sep. 16. Also, there have been 90 total hospitalizations as of Sep. 16, according to health department data — about 9.9 percent of all confirmed cases. Health officials said the average age of those hospitalized is 66.2. North Shore Health Department data shows the 7-day rolling average for positive COVID-19 case percentage has climbed to 6.4 percent after hovering between 3.7 percent and 4.2 percent in mid-August.
