WHITEFISH BAY, WI — Police in Whitefish Bay say they're trying to track down a suspect who sped away from an attempted traffic stop, only to hit another car and later run from the accident scene. According to Whitefish Bay police call logs, an officer was on patrol just before 4 a.m. on Aug. 6 when they spotted a vehicle that matched the description of a suspicious vehicle from earlier in the evening. Police said the officer attempted to pull the driver over, saying the vehicle had defective tail lights. According to police, the driver sped away from the attempted traffic stop. According to police, officers managed to deflate vehicle's tires were using stop sticks, but the driver kept going until he hit another vehicle at N. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and E. Burleigh Street. Police said the driver of the fleeing vehicle ran from the accident and was not located. Police said a passenger in the fleeing vehicle was transported to Columbia Saint Mary's in Milwaukee for treatment of minor injuries. The passenger was later driven to the Whitefish Bay police department for questioning, police said. According to police, the driver of the vehicle that was struck also reported minor injuries and was transported to Froedtert for treatment. Police said they believe they know the identity of the driver who fled police and crashed into the second car, and are working to track him down.
