WHITEFISH BAY,WI—This week Whitefish Bay police are warning drivers against a common winter habit: warming up cars unattended. The Police Department reports officers are seeing a number of cars unattended and running in driveways, but they warn drivers against leaving your keys in an unattended, unlocked, and running vehicle. "Thieves can walk up to your car, get in, and drive off in a matter of five seconds," according to police. The Police Department also asks that you leave exterior lights on at night. A well-lit property is a deterrent to thieves and it assists officers in monitoring your property. At night, third-shift officers are patrolling the community and leaving notes. Some residents may have found brochures in their unlocked cars or garages from the Police Department informing them of the #9pmROUTINE. At 9:00 p.m. police say make the following a routine: Bring In Your ValuablesLock Your CarsLock Your DoorsLock Your Windows
