Description

SHOREWOOD, WI — The parks commission is seeking the public's feedback on possible locations for dog waste stations throughout Shorewood. During the last commission meeting on Jan. 12, residents proposed a new program that would install dog waste stations around the village. The dog waste stations would have bag dispensers for dog owners to pick up bags in case they do not have one on them. The Parks Commission is considering a trial period where 10-15 locations would be selected for installation in the village. The stations would be fully funded through sponsors. Before these waste stations are installed, the commission wants to hear from residents on where they should be. Members of the commission said they would like to locate the stations where community members find a great deal of dog waste not picked up throughout different parts of the village. Residents are asked to send any suggestions to Assistant Village Manager Tyler Burkart at [email protected] by Friday, Jan. 22. The Parks Commission said it may finalize a recommendation on the program during its Feb. 9 meeting. The program will also need to be approved by the Village Board before it is implemented.
