OAK CREEK, WI — Citing critical shortages of poll workers in Oak Creek, officials have changed where some voters will cast their ballots for the April 7 election. Oak Creek City Clerk Catherine Roeske announced a new polling place for voters who live in aldermanic districts 1 through 6, representing wards 1 through 19. All voters, who normally cast ballots at one of six polling locations in the City, will now vote at the Oak Creek High School, 340 E. Puetz Road, Oak Creek. "Due to the lack of trained poll workers available on Election Day, Tuesday, April 7, the City of Oak Creek will now have only one central polling location. All residents will vote at the Oak Creek High School from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.," Roeske said in a statement. "We are fortunate to be able to use the Oak Creek High School, located in the heart of the City, as our temporary polling location." All voters will need to bring a photo ID to vote on election day. They will be able to register to vote at the Oak Creek High School on election day with proper documentation. Voters are encouraged to bring their own black ballpoint pens, to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving the building, and to maintain social distancing while at the polling location. The City will also have additional safety and cleaning measures in place. The polling place is accessible to elderly and disabled voters. The polls are open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. Related Reading Wisconsin Coronavirus Tracker 2020 Democratic National Convention Postponed National Guard To Be Called Out On Election Day Over Coronavirus Coronavirus Closures: Walmart, Woodman's, Target, Mayfair, More What's going on in Wisconsin?
