OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek police say they were able to track down the location of an Illinois man accused of stealing more than $700 in scotch from the Oak Creek Meijer.
According to Oak Creek police call logs, a loss prevention officer at the Oak Creek Meijer, 171 W. Town Square Way, called police just before 2 p.m. on Aug. 27 to say that a man wearing a Chicago Bears jersey stole 12 bottles of scotch and walked out of the grocery store without paying.
Police said the combined value of the stolen scotch was more than $700. According to police, the man got into a red Nissan Rouge with Illinois plates and drove off.
When police checked the vehicle's registration, it listed to an address in Berwyn, Illinois. And when authorities conducted a Google "street view" search of the neighborhood, they found the same car parked on the same block listed for the vehicle owner.
Police are following up on the incident, according to call logs.
