MILWAUKEE, WI — High school football is among several sports that could start in March under a new alternate plan approved by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. The alternate fall schedule is considered optional for schools across the state. On Friday, the association's board approved a 7-week alternate fall season that will run from February through May. Under the alternate season, girls swimming and volleyball would start in February. Football, girls tennis, cross country and boys soccer would all start in March. If schools do not want to go for the alternate fall sports season, "low-risk" sports are still slated to start Aug. 17, and "high-risk" sports on Sept. 7.
