MILWAUKEE, WI — A total of 23 Milwaukee private schools have plans approved by the Milwaukee Health Department that will allow them to have students return to school in-person this fall. According to the Milwaukee Health Department, schools need to file complete school safety plans with the department for consideration. As of Friday, health officials said they received 48 complete school plans, and have approved 23 of them so far. "MHD is continuing to review COVID-19 safety plans for schools that are located in the City of Milwaukee, and desire to have options aside from virtual," health department officials said in a news release. "Plans are reviewed in the order that they are received and prioritized by the open date." The next update is expected Sep. 4, officials said. Milwaukee Public Schools officials voted to open fully-virtual to start the semester. According to a JSOnline report, private school officials and School Choice Wisconsin pressured Milwaukee officials for a private-school option that would allow students to return in-person this fall. The health department responded by coming up with the school safety plan program. Schools Approved For In-Person Return Marquette University High School Salem LutheranWisconsin LutheranS.
