Milwaukee Deputies: 184 Service Calls Handled During Snow Storm

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — Milwaukee County Deputies responded to 184 winter weather-related service calls within a 24-hour period over the weekend. The type of calls the deputies responded to from 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday are: Property damage crashes: 29Crashes with injures: 3Disabled vehicles: 146Abandoned towed vehicles: 3Debris hazards on the highway: 3 According to the sheriff's office, its patrol division continues to be present along the roadways to assist drivers and ensure commuter safety during inclement weather. "We remind motorists if you have to leave your home to drive for road conditions, wear your seatbelt. Make sure your headlights are on. Double or even triple your following distance between your vehicle and other motorists," the sheriff's office warned. Deputies also advise drivers that if they find themselves in a ditch, turn on their hazard lights, remain in their vehicle and call 911. If drivers are in a crash and their vehicle is still drivable, it's safer to drive off the freeway to the nearest exit. Once they have removed their vehicle from the highway, call 911 or MCSO's non-emergency number at 414-278-4788. The sheriff's office also reminds drivers to move over or slow down for emergency personnel.
