Description

Press release from the Village of Menomonee Falls: January 6, 2021 The Department of Public Works provides street side pick up of discarded natural Christmas trees. In order to be eligible for pick up by the Village, all discarded trees must be placed along the edge of the street or curb no later than the second Sunday in January of each year. This years it's January 10th. As time and workloads permit, Public Works Employees will be driving through the Village picking up discarded Christmas trees. No part of the trees should be overhanging the curb and into the street as this could be hazardous during snow removal operations. Discarded Christmas trees must be clean of all decorations, lights, stands, tinsel, garland, wire, plastic bags, etc. Discarded Christmas trees are chipped by the Village and recycled as mulch and/or compost. Any type of material or debris other than the tree will damage the equipment in the chipping process. Christmas wreaths are not eligible for pick up under this program due to the steel frames, wire and other contaminants used in making them. Wreaths must be disposed of along with your regular trash. Waste Management will not pick up discarded Christmas Trees as part of the weekly garbage collection. This press release was produced by the Village of Menomonee Falls.
