GREENDALE, WI —Greendale firefighter Jarod Kimber is facing a possible suspension for violating a workplace policy after he opened the door to a dorm room where a female colleague was changing her clothes, CBS58.com reported. According to reports, the fire chief brought charges against Kimber, and an attorney representing the Village of Greendale and another representing Kimber argued on behalf of their clients this week. Reports from CBS58.com suggested a written notice of the decision is expected in the coming days, though an oral decision could come sooner. CBS58.com reported that fire station policy requires dorm room doors to be left open during the day unless someone is in the room changing or for some other exception. The criminal complaint states that Kimber was vacuuming when he noticed the dorm room door was closed. Kimber said he knocked, did not get a response and then opened the door. Daniel Vliet, the attorney representing the village of Greendale, said Kimber's action clearly violated the dorm room policy. "Had firefighter Kimber paid attention to the chief's dorm room policy, he would have known someone was in the room," Vliet said. "Remember, the only reasons the door could have been closed is because a firefighter was in the dorm room. Kimber knew it was her room." Kimber does have a history of workplace misconduct violations, like putting a naked sex doll on another firefighter's bed, according to reports. Charles Blumenfield, the attorney representing Kimber, said his client has been a prankster, but that Kimber did not violate the dorm room policy. "Was it something my client was seeking? Was he trying to harass her? Was he trying to make life difficult for her? Did he say anything inappropriate? No." Blumenfield said. "Vacuuming, comes to a closed door, turns off the vacuum cleaner, knocks, waits, opens the door." Read more at CBS58.com.
