FRANKLIN, WI— City of Franklin property tax bills are scheduled to be mailed during the week of December 7. This year, the City is asking residents to pay online or via a contactless option. "Due to the ongoing pandemic, and the surge of recent cases, we are strongly urging payment of property tax bills online, by mail, or depositing in the City's drop box rather than paying in person at the Treasurer's Office at City Hall," the City wrote. Payments made online will result in an immediate receipt. Mail and drop box payments will result in a receipt being mailed back to you upon receipt of the payment. In addition, you are able to verify through the City's Property Tax Web Portal that your payment has been received. Franklin will send approximately 14,000 tax bills in December. In 2019, nearly 7,000 people walked up to the counter to remit payment, while 1,500 paid on line, according to Paul Rotzenberg, the Director of Finance & Treasurer for the City of Franklin. "We do expect some fewer in person payments this year. However, old habits are hard to change, and folks like to come into City Hall to make their property tax payments," he told Patch.
