BROOKFIELD, WI—The Jose's Blue Sombrero in Brookfield has closed permanently, according to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report. The article said the announcement came from the parent company DeRosa Corp. The restaurant, located at 20371 W.Bluemound Rd., closed temporarily on January 5 due to a fire. According to owner Joseph DeRosa, the fire, which started inside a kitchen wall, caused extensive damage and the cost of necessary repairs do not make economical business sense at this time. "We are so proud to have been part of the Brookfield community and want to extend a heartfeltand sincere thank you to all of our loyal customers who we've had the pleasure of serving foralmost 15 years," said DeRosa. "This was a difficult decision, but we hope to welcome ourcustomers and friends to one of the other Jose's Blue Sombrero locations in Wauwatosa, FoxPoint and Racine or at our other Brookfield restaurant, Parkside 23." DeRosa Corp. will make every effort to find employment for the wonderful staff members who desire to continue with the DeRosa Corporation, the release said. The restaurant has been closed since the fire on Tuesday Jan 5th 2021. Jose's of Brookfield hasbeen the flagship unit of the Jose's brand. DeRosa Corporation has entered into a contract forthe sale of the restaurant property to occur later this year. The Town of Brookfield Fire Department was called on Jan. 5 after an employee notified the fire department, that there was smoke in the kitchen and it was getting worse. When firefighters arrived, they found customers evacuating the restaurant and the inside filled with smoke. Firefighters had a difficult time locating the fire due to the fact it was inside a wall separating the two cooking areas. The fire was contained to this area and did not spread, according to the fire department's release. There are three other Blue Sombrero in Wauwatosa, Racine and Fox Point. DeRosa Corp. also also operates the Chancery in Mequon.
