Coronavirus Testing Events Postponed Due To Air Quality

TACOMA, WA — Pierce County has postponed two mobile coronavirus testing events scheduled for Tuesday due to ongoing air quality concerns. Forecasters had predicted that air quality would improve Monday as wind pushed wildfire smoke east from Puget Sound. However, that didn't materialize, and the National Weather Service has extended their air quality alert through Thursday. Now the air quality is expected to remain unhealthy for the next few days, so Pierce County has postponed a pair of outdoor testing events they had scheduled Tuesday. The #PierceCounty Mobile Testing Stations are postponed Tuesday, September 15, due to poor air quality. Testing services are postponed for the safety of staff and those coming for tests. There will still be plenty of opportunities for residents to get tested, however. The county has announced dozens of free mobile testing events this month, with more likely in the months ahead.
