REDMOND, WA — Redmond detectives are making a public call for help in solving the suspicious death of a Seattle man, after more than a year spent investigating without uncovering any promising leads. A passerby found 38-year-old Francis Gaspar lying in the middle of West Lake Sammamish Parkway, near Leary way, just before midnight on July 29, 2019. Police said he was seriously injured and unable to tell officers what happened. Medics rushed Gaspar to the hospital, where he died the following day. The King County Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, but investigators said there were no obvious signs Gaspar had been hit by a vehicle. His car, a Volkswagen Passat, was found more than a week later around Perrigo Park. Officers attempted to find surveillance footage that would provide any clue as to what happened, but none ever surfaced. Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound and Gaspar's family is offering a combined $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and charge for the person or people responsible for his death. Anyone with information can call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-222-TIPS or submit a tip through the P3 app.
