REDMOND, WA — An 8-year-old child was found dead inside an English Hill home Tuesday morning after deputies responded to reports of a domestic disturbance, according to the King County Sheriff's Office. The child's father remains hospitalized under police supervision, investigators said. The update shared Thursday was the first since the sheriff's office confirmed the investigation Tuesday in the unincorporated community, located between Redmond and Woodinville. According to Sergeant Tim Meyer, a sheriff's office spokesman, deputies were called to 179th Avenue Northeast shortly before 8 a.m. on Feb. 9. On arrival, deputies entered the home and discovered the child. Meyer said the child's father, a 37-year-old man, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Major crimes are now investigating the child's death as a homicide, and detectives said no one else was injured and no suspects are outstanding. No further details were immediately released.
