KIRKLAND, WA — The pilot of a floatplane was able to free himself and wait for rescuers after his aircraft capsized on Lake Washington Tuesday morning, according to authorities. The Seattle Police Department's Harbor Unit responded to the water near Yarrow Point around 8:30 a.m. According to city officials, Kirkland Fire Department's water rescue boat was first on the scene, and the pilot was taken to shore by a private boat. Bellevue and Redmond's fire departments assisted at the scene, joined by the Seattle Police Department's marine unit. The pilot had only minor injuries, and no one else was on board the plane.
