Description

GIG HARBOR, WA — The City of Gig Harbor is asking residents to volunteer to become a part of the city planning process. A vacancy has appeared on the Gig Harbor Planning Commission, which the city is hoping someone would like to step up and fill. The Planning Commission does not write laws itself, but does make recommendations to the City Council on issues like long-range land use, planning, zoning and rezoning. The commission normally consists of seven volunteer members who have been appointed by the City Council. A regular term would last four years, but whoever fills the vacant position would hold it until the previous holder's term ends in June 2021. The commission meets at 5 p.m. every first and third Thursdays of the month. More information on how the council works and their responsibilities can be found on the City of Gig Harbor's website. To apply to join the Gig Harbor Planning Commission the city asks volunteers to submit their application to Joshua Stecker at [email protected] by the end of the month. Applications can also be mailed to: City of Gig Harbor, 3510 Grandview Street, Gig Harbor, WA 98335.
