BELLEVUE, WA — Crews successfully clamped a large gas leak in downtown Bellevue Wednesday morning, which earlier prompted building evacuations and road closures. The Bellevue Police Department blocked the roads near the intersection of 112th Avenue Southeast and Main Street shortly before 10:30 a.m. The police department tweeted the line was secure an hour later and said roads would soon reopen. According to police, a contractor working at a construction site punctured a major gas line. The department did not identify the construction site, but the address provided is near the future East Link station. Residents were asked to avoid the area until the leak was secured by Puget Sound Energy. A contractor reportedly broke a major gas line at a construction site. And buildings are being evacuated. pic.twitter.com/0yIIwfimj2— Bellevue, WA Police (@BvuePD) September 30, 2020
