PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA —The Prince William County Police Department is seeking qualified candidates to work part-time as school crossing guards in Lake Ridge, Woodbridge, Dale City, Manassas and Dumfries. The police department is holding a recruiting information session to learn more about how to become a school crossing guard on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will be held at the Charlie T. Deane Central District Station at 5036 Davis Ford Rd. in Woodbridge. Recruiters will be available to answer questions about the qualifications, hiring process, benefits, incentives and more. Candidates will be able to speak one-on-one with recruiters and get detailed information about the job of a crossing guard and the Prince William County Police Department. Families are welcome to attend the recruitment event. During the coronavirus crisis, some students are physically attending schools in Prince William County, while most are doing distance-learning. Crossing guards are currently working at the schools where the students are attending. The department's recruitment efforts for school crossing guards are to fill current vacancies, as well as future positions, department spokeswoman Sharon Richardson said in an email to Patch. The department also will be holding school crossing guard recruiting open houses on Nov. 14 and Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at the same location as the Oct. 24 event. Due to the coronavirus crisis, all attendees at the open houses must wear masks and practice social distancing. Call 703-792-6580 if you have questions about the event, or visit the police department's website.
