What's Up Prince William January 30, 2021 Moving to a new home? Need help decluttering and packing? White Glove Solution (WGS) can lend a hand. Based out of Northern Virginia, WGS offers moving and relocation services. It is a strategic partner of Planning for Senior Life (PSL), a group that helps seniors and their families make decisions. WGS Operations Manager Alonso Zamora spoke about the family run company in a recent Community Conversations. You can watch the interview here: This is the transcription: ST Billingsley: Hi, I'm ST Billingsley with Community Conversations with What's Up Prince William. Thank you for joining us today. Today, we have Alonzo Zamora from White Glove Solutions, also part of a strategic partner with Planning for Senior Life. Thank you for being on our show today and actually continuing on from the previous one. So tell us about your part, what you guys do in that organization. Alonso Zamora: Thank you so much for having us, ST, it's been great our partnership and things like that with you being part of Salvation Army and things like that and giving back to the community. So our focus with White Glove Solution is… I work for my son, he's 23 years old. I've been working for him for the last five years and it's been great doing business development for him, but mostly what I've been educating is my son is for pro bono work, to go out there, and for industry, how do we make it better for the industry to help seniors? So one of the biggest things in the industry is make sure you have a lot of different schooling. So we have different schooling regarding like NASMM, National Association of Senior Move Management. We also have another certification called CAPS, which has Certification of Agent in Place. Alonso Zamora: So we go down through the process of helping people downsize and so I want everybody to be very with compassion and love to work for our seniors, just so they're well taken care of. Nobody gouges at prices with them, so that's what I expect out of our industry. What we also love is that it's just a lot of handholding. They're very sensitive people, they've been around for a long time, and they're very smart. So what I love about them is that you can't take advantage of them anyway, even if you wanted to, because they've been around. So we love it, taking care of them and walk them through the whole process of helping them downsize to moving them, moving them temporarily out of their homes, so they can go back in a safe environment. Alonso Zamora: We love what we do and I hope that there's more contractors out there that they will follow these certifications, or team up with us and do things because we can't do it all. So we need people out there to kind of educate. So we're out in the community educating, basically stating that this is what you should look for, these are the standards that you should do and these are things, their values and things. So with Planning for Senior Life, they're really hone those down to code of ethics. They basically help us with being vetted or we vet other people, background checks and things like that. ST Billingsley: Great. So you are running through many different challenges, so it can be everything from maybe someone wanting to stay in the home, fixing up bathrooms, making things safe, converting maybe downstairs rooms into bedrooms. Alonso Zamora: Correct. ST Billingsley: And so you work with the families, you work with different organizations, different people. So you're taking care of that part, but you're also working with others to make sure they're getting the whole taken careful. Alonso Zamora: That's correct. So with Planning for Senior Life, we have vetted people and background checks that, like I said before, is they're not going to gouge your prices or take advantage of seniors, but they're resourceful. So that we have people who are professional organizers, we have law attorneys, we have real estate agents. We have a source of a lot of resources in the community that we're able to help our seniors. ST Billingsley: So not just seniors, but also you guys are doing some work with some veterans organizations? Alonso Zamora: Correct. NOVA Vets is one of our strategic partners and they're just fantastic, so we're able to do some pro bono work with them. ST Billingsley: Oh, that's great. Well, it sounds like you had your hands full with this, especially with our aging population. This is something that even myself with my parents that we're actually having to start paying attention to them. So thank you very much for being on What's Up Prince William today and thank you for joining us on Community Conversations.
