WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Dumfries man was arrested and charged with strangulation and domestic assault after a Prince William County Police investigation. The crimes occurred last Thursday afternoon when Nicholas Ramsey argued with a 9-year-old boy, authorities said. The argument started as a verbal dispute between the two family members, but their dispute soon escalated, according to police reports. The argument became physical when Ramsey grabbed the boy by the neck and forced him onto the floor, according to police. The two people eventually separated without any further violence. The boy reported minor injuries after the altercation. Prince William County Police were not on scene for the incident, but were later called to investigate the incident. After the investigation, Prince William County officers obtained arrest warrants for Ramsey for his role in the dispute. Ramsey turned himself in to police on Monday, January 25 without any further incident. Ramsey's court date is scheduled for April 2, 2021.
