PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — The Prince William County Police Department collected more than 1,415 pounds of unused and expired prescription drugs as well as e-cigarette and vaping devices as part of a Drug Take-Back event on Oct. 24, the department said Thursday.
The national event, sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration and local police agencies, is held twice a year, offering people a safe and convenient method to remove prescription medications from their homes.
By turning in unwanted prescription drugs — rather than throwing them away or flushing them down a sink or toilet — they are kept out of the landfill and the water supply.
