VIENNA, VA — Puppies posing in costumes in a nativity scene? Count us in. The fourth annual Puppy Nativity is returning to Vienna's Church of the Good Shepherd (United Methodist) on Saturday, Dec. 7. All are welcome to bring their dogs for photos at 2351 Hunter Mill Road from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Costumes and treats will be provided for dogs, and hot chocolate and photos will be provided to owners. "The original nativity had many animals around the manger, so bringing our pets is a wonderful way to celebrate the season!" said Rev. Eric Song, who came up with the idea in 2016 when he became Good Shepherd's pastor. "Animals are a big part of our families, and we want all to be included. So bring your pets to pose at our nativity." The event is free, and the church's youth group will collect donations to provide gift cards to families through Britepaths. The nonprofit supports struggling families in Fairfax County. Attendees are also invited to bring plastic caps and tops for the church's recycling project. If you aren't convinced to go, check out Patch's coverage from a few years ago. For more information on the church, visit www.GoodShepherdVA.com.
