TYSONS, VA — Drive-in movies are popping up as an entertainment option in the age of social distancing. In Tysons, one movie series is using the platform to raise money for local nonprofit Second Story.
Capital One Center is hosting drive-in movies on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from July 11 to Aug. 2. Movies will be shown at the McLean Metro parking lot, 1820 Dolley Madison Blvd, McLean, VA. Doors open at 7 p.m., and movies begin at 8:30 p.m. Food trucks will provide concessions with contactless ordering.
Movies are free, but attendees must register in advance. Instead of paying a ticket fee, a $25 donation to Second Story is suggested.
Second Story is a nonprofit assisting youth with shelter and other services. It emerged decades ago as Alternative House for teens in crisis and has expanded to provide other services. During the coronavirus pandemic, it is providing relief services and is seeking donations.
