MPAartfest 2020 Goes On With Virtual Activities

MCLEAN, VA — McLean Project for the Arts' 14th annual MPAartfest wasn't able to happen in person due to the pandemic, but the tradition will carry on. The 2020 MPAartfest is happening virtually from Oct. 4 through 18. For two weeks, art lovers can check out virtual galleries and make purchases, see virtual artist talks, visit the virtual Children's Art Walk, and watch live-streamed performances. This year's event features 40 and counting artists through a virtual gallery searchable by art type or artist. On the musical side, a live drive-in MPAartfest Benefit Concert was held on Sunday, while an Art+Music Moonlight Concert Series will be held on two dates. The concert series keeps the tradition of performances in the gazebo alive with two outdoor, live-streamed shows. Held on Sunday, Oct. 11 and Oct. 18 at 8 p.m., the shows will feature a variety of genres and performers from the concert and musical theater stages. The virtual shows are free, but RSVPS are requested. The event has been named one of the Top 100 Fine Art and Design Shows in the USA by Sunshine Artist Magazine and usually happens in McLean Central Park. McLean Project for the Arts holds the event with the McLean Community Center and in partnership with the Fairfax County Park Authority. McLean Project for the Arts is a nonprofit that provides arts exhibitions and educational programs. During the pandemic, it continues to offer virtual and in-person art classes.
